EPS styrofoam boxes for refrigerated transport
Our EPS boxes - also known as Styrofoam boxes or styrofoam boxes - are high-quality insulated packaging for shipping temperature-sensitive goods. Thanks to the excellent insulation value of EPS (expanded polystyrene), your fresh produce, medicines and other refrigerated items will stay at the right temperature during transport. Moreover, an EPS Styrofoam box protects the contents from shocks and damage, so your shipment arrives safely.

Advantages of EPS (tempex) cooling boxes
Why choose an EPS box as refrigerated packaging? Here are some key benefits:
- High insulation value: EPS has excellent thermal insulation. A Styrofoam box will keep your products for a long time chilled or frozen, even in hot weather.
- Lightweight material: A Styrofoam box weighs very little, contributing to lower shipping costs and easier handling.
- Shockproof: The sturdy Styrofoam absorbs shocks and knocks. This keeps fragile products well protected from damage.
- Reusable & recyclable: An EPS box can be used several times. Is it worn out? EPS is fully recyclable at a suitable collection point - a sustainable choice, in other words.
- Direct from stock: Cooled Solutions supplies EPS Styrofoam boxes in various sizes directly from stock. You can easily order them by the piece or by the pallet, depending on your needs.
- Maximum cooling: Combine the EPS box with cooling elements or gel packs for even longer keeping contents cool during transport.
Water- and mould-resistant
Thermal regulation
The thickness of the EPS box determines the insulation value. Thicker walls offer superior protection against temperature changes, keeping the contents optimally protected. This makes EPS boxes suitable for all weather conditions.
Easy to use and strong
Reusable and durable
Applications: what do you use a Styrofoam box for?
EPS boxes are used in a variety of industries for shipping temperature-sensitive products. Some examples of use:
- Fish and meat: From fresh fish to cold cuts - a tempex cooler keeps them safely chilled so freshness is preserved.
- Fruits, vegetables and dairy: AGF products and dairy products keep longer in a Styrofoam box that protects against outside heat.
- Flowers and plants: Prevent temperature fluctuations that could damage your flowers. EPS boxes offer a stable climate during transport.
- Medicines and pharmaceuticals: Pharmaceuticals and vaccines require strict temperature control. Styrofoam boxes ensure reliable cooling throughout the logistics chain.
- Meal boxes and catering: Cooked meals or catering dishes can be transported both hot and cold insulated in EPS packaging.
Various formats and alternatives
At Cooled Solutions you will find EPS boxes in all kinds of sizes - from compact boxes of a few litres to large insulation boxes of 40+ litre capacity. You can choose from different wall thicknesses (thin or thick walls) and versions (e.g. with or without leak holes for melt water). So there is always a suitable solution for your product. Do you need a specific size? No problem, we also supply custom-made products. Feel free to contact with us for a tailor-made solution.
Are you unsure whether EPS is the best option? In addition to EPS Styrofoam boxes, we also offer other thermo boxes and EPP cooling boxes. Each packaging has its own advantages. Our experts will be happy to advise you on the best choice for your application.

Frequently asked questions about EPS boxes
What is an EPS box?
EPS stands for Expanded Polystyrene, a lightweight foam material known as Styrofoam or tempex. So an EPS box is a Styrofoam box that provides excellent insulation. These boxes are used as refrigerated packaging to keep products cold (or warm) during transportation. The terms "EPS box", "Styrofoam box" and "Styrofoam box" all mean the same thing.
Is a tempex box the same as an EPS box?
Yes. The name "Tempex" is a brand name often used as a synonym for polystyrene foam (EPS) in the Netherlands. So a tempex box is exactly the same as an EPS Styrofoam box. Both refer to an insulating packaging made of expanded polystyrene.
Can I reuse a Styrofoam box?
Yes, EPS boxes are reusable. They are sturdy enough to be used several times, provided you handle them carefully. After use, you can easily clean the box (rinse it with water and let it dry) and reuse it for the next shipment. This way, you get the most out of each Styrofoam box and save on packaging costs.
Is an EPS box recyclable?
Sure. An EPS box is fully recyclable. Styrofoam consists of polystyrene (plastic #6) and can be recycled into new material at a suitable collection point. So don't just throw away used Styrofoam boxes, but hand them in at the waste disposal site or recycling point in your municipality.
How long will the contents stay cool in a tempex box?
This depends on several factors, such as the amount and type of refrigerants in the box, the outside temperature and the thickness of the EPS walls. In general, a properly packed shipment with sufficient icepacks or cooling elements keep contents chilled for 24-48 hours in an EPS cooler. For longer transit times or extra critical shipments, add more refrigerant or opt for a thick-walled Styrofoam box for better insulation.
Properties of EPS boxes
Our EPS boxes are widely used in various industries thanks to their versatile properties. Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), better known as Styrofoam or tempex, is a lightweight, foam-like material composed of 98% air and 2% polystyrene. EPS offers excellent insulation, shock absorption and is moisture and mould resistant.
The insulation value of EPS boxes is determined by the thickness of the walls. The larger the box, the thicker the wall, which improves both strength and insulation. To ensure that your product arrives at the desired temperature, we recommend first samples are requested and tested. We offer EPS boxes with walls from 20 mm (thin wall) to 30-50 mm (thick wall), both with and without leak holes.

Actually, to date, the EPS box still has the best insulation capacity. The Tempguard, Eco Cool Box and cooling bag are all just slightly below this. Nevertheless, these boxes often offer enough insulation for the products to be shipped to arrive at the right temperature.
Yes this is certainly possible, however we will only do this if the order is for +2,000 units.
We have around 50 sizes of EPS boxes. If your desired size is not on the website, please take contact at and we will be happy to help you!
As a rule, the bigger the box, the thicker the wall. This is mainly to do with strength. Also, the thicker the wall, the better the insulation. To make sure your product arrives at the desired temperature, we recommend first om request samplesand run some tests with these samples. We haveEPS Boxes with 30-50 mm thick wallandEPS Boxes with 20 mm thin wallin our product range. In addition, weEPS Boxes with drip holesand EPS Boxes without leakage holesin our product range.
Exactly how long a product stays chilled is difficult to say. This is mainly because a number of variables come into play: Ambient temperature, transport time and the temperature at which the product enters the packaging. In general, you can certainly keep your products chilled/frozen for 48 hours.
Our delivery time on EPS is 2-3 working days.
